Steer clear of clubs and shop price. Much better deals for patient grasshopper at grocery channel.

They had this show on CNBC about four years ago. Inside Costco. They mark nothing up more than 15%. Good quality products. I probably go 3 times a month. You could probably get your membership money back just on milk and eggs.

Sam's has a better selection of personal care items (soap etc), movies, games, and sometimes clothes. Food is pretty similar, but Costco packages their meat in a way that you can easily freeze what you need. They also have a better selection of "natural" type foods. They have name brand and house brand liquors, and some of their house brand stuff is legit.

The biggest difference I've noticed is that Costco has car buying services and vacation deals. Much of this is similar to other deals already available through credit cards and other companies, but is still worth considering.
