Congrats! Just some advice, so take from it what you will.
Learn as much as you can. Take advantage of every opportunity given. Be active with emergency brigade or any other voluntary opportunity that is offered to you. Not trying to be a downer but just advising that there will always be economic uncertainties. The more you learn, will not only make you become more valuable to your team, but you will have an impressive resume if something unexpected happens. Answer your radio and show up where the work is- even when it’s not in the job you are working. I’d rather be thought to be stupid than to be lazy. Don’t frick off till you know your job- and even then do so in moderation. Be careful who you trust and don’t talk about any of your coworkers. Plant operators are worse than school girls when it comes to gossip and it will eventually come back to bite you. It will take several years to earn the full respect and trust of your coworkers, but it only takes 1 day to ruin it. Always be present and accountable for your mistakes and own up to them. Most of the people that get fired, don’t get fired for making a mistake. They get fired for making several mistakes or making a mistake and trying to hide it. Willful violations of HS&E rules will get you fired faster than anything. Remember to be thankful for the great job you have. Rather than being one who bitches about everything the company does or doesn’t do for you remember that you voluntarily wake up each day and badge in- you’re not being held there against your will. Don’t ask for someone to help you with something if you haven’t made the effort to learn it yourself. It’s other operators responsibility to help you learn when you don’t understand but it is not their job to force feed you or motivate you to learn it. Before you tell someone they are wrong, you better damn well make sure you are right. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

You have to be robot like. For lawsuits.. everyone has to be asked the same questions in the same manner. There can be no ground for discrimination.
It sucks for the people asking the questions as well. I hate sounding and looking like I don't care. Interviews are a big deal. You are deciding on a person's future. I approach interviewing people as a big deal and make sure every person and resume are given great overview.
The person interviewing deserves it.

Baton Rouge. They apparently place you into refinery or chemical after the training program is complete. Not entirely sure of that process and how priority is given.

Are newly hired plant operators still making baller money? Do they still work the ABCD shifts where you rotate 12 hours shifts and are constantly switching between nights and days?

How much do operators get paid out there?

Most of the first type interviews are just a chance to meet you and see what kind of person you are. With Exxon is is usually a few step process. Dress nice and stay calm. Answer their questions and just be yourself. Don't give them the idea that you are a know it all but that you are happy for the opportunity to be considered. Smile and let them know that you like people and like working as a team. Safety is big with these guys so any questions regarding safety sound like it is important to you. Good luck.

Yeah it’s that same schedule. Starting pay a little less than $32/hr. 4 year program and I believe raises are sprinkled throughout as you pass your evaluations. Unsure what top pay is

$52 or so right now.
Also, save your money because you might be on strike this time next year.

when in Lahore Pakistan , interviewing operators for use in Kuwait . the interview teams found the most popular response to questions was "I can do that". Turns out the local recruiting agent had coached the applicants to respond "I can do that" whenever they did not understand the question.
