Because you are as grossly uneducated on this topic as you are most others.
Then please educate me.
All I am saying is that if someone has a diagnosed mental illness of some type or has a questionable rap sheet I wouldn't have a problem if they were not legally able to buy a gun. While they could still obtain a gun by buying one on the street, etc. At least don't make it easy for those hand full of people who have red flags.
Like I said in another post, there are still other ways to cause harm and attack people without having a gun.. But lets say a person goes into a gun shop. There is nothing stopping him from getting a gun permit and buying a gun, but there is something off about him. Just from his behavior he seems like he could be a threat.
If that person is diagnosed with a mental disorder, you would have a problem with the gun store being able to see that that individual is considered a mild or extreme, etc risk and from that information the gun shop could decide not to sell that person the gun?
We are talking about impacting maybe less than 1% of the people who attempt to buy a gun. It is more of a safety issue than anything.. I don't understand why anyone would be against that.

Versus the extremely common shootings committed by black males of similar ages. That's a far larger problem.
The gun violence in poor black communities is obviously high and something needs to be done.. If there is anything that can be done, but that is usually drug related. It is people attacking other people over territory, etc.. That doesn't worry me as much as someone who just wants to go in a public place and open up fire trying to kill as many people as possible for no reason.

If you have any history of mental illness, you cannot buy a gun already. Problem is, too many times it is not reported or put into the system. I.E the shooter of Va Tech was turned down in virgina multiple times but bc the system didn't cross state lines, he bought his pistols when he should never have been able to had the systems talked to one another.
If you have any flag at a gun shop, they will not sell to you. No gun shop owner is going to risk their business over a single purchase. When they put the info in and it comes back clear (because states don't talk via internet to one another) they have no reason not to sell. If some seems off in the store, gun stores will not sell

It's very instructive on how gun-control advocates think and how they rely on ignorance to spread their messaging.
I don’t want this to sound snide, that’s not my intention, but I don’t think they do think. I do think they are almost exclusively driven by emotion.
Sales restrictions would do nothing to mitigate gun violence, for example.
And this is truly elemental, and painfully obvious, and what we’ve said for decades, but guns aren’t squeezing the trigger. People are. And people are thus the problem.

Chapelle made the point his recent special that it’s white children that are shooting up schools.
These shootings aren’t particularly common, they are rare, but this does point to a problem in white families.
We should be talking about it. But we aren’t.
Chris Rock said in 96 it's "crazy people".
Schools used to separate them. Gace them their own bus, and let them out before everybody else.
