Marine Corps Museum - it's in Quantico so you'll need a car.
Udvar-Hazy museum out in Dulles
Navy Yard
Masonic Temple on 16th St.
National Cathedral
The embassy of your choice - plenty of them put on events.
The Corcoran Gallery (it's getting set to close soon so now is your chance).
Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

Newseum
I second Dulles air and space museum
Library of congress/national archives
h street: Granville moores for mussels, then dangerously delicious pies, then bar hop if ya want.
Eastern market on the weekend
Nats game
Rent a kayak on Potomac
Hike Great Falls
Walk the monuments at night
All I got right now

I really enjoyed the Navy yard plus it's only like 5 minutes from the Nationals staduim.

Have you called your congressman yet?
Cap tour, hang out in the office buildings, use the tunnel or the senate train, get into the WH, etc.

I like it as an adult. It's expensive and crowded though.

Air and Space Museum (that parking lot next to it is a great place to park and easily within walking distance to most attractions)
Udvar-Hazy
The Old Post Office for ice cream and the view (kids liked that)
Natural History Museum
American History Museum
Joe's Seafood
The Wall
The National Zoo
That cupcake place

Not enough suggestions?
I went last year. I can only handle so many museums. Some other things I did that were pretty cool:
Check out the Adams Morgan neighborhood and eat some ethnic food. Very cool hood.
Go to Georgetown. Very cool hood.
Go to Chinatown
Take the subway, then bus to Alexandria, VA. It has a cool, really old olde town with cobblestone streets, bars restaurants and shops.

No kids and I emailed Bill Cassidy last night, hopefully it is not too late. Is it possible to do the newseum and the spy museum in a day?
