I worked at Sears (warehouse, unloading trucks) when I was in college (mid 80's). It was a great job for me. Learned a lot about dealing with customers (when they picked up appliances etc).
I went back a few years later and everything had changed. It seemed the employees resented a customer coming into their department. All the people I had worked with had left.
I agree with the poster who said they should have dumped the shitty clothes. If they had stuck with the auto department (tires and brakes), tools and appliances they would be doing fine.
They are only pushing back the inevitable with this restructuring. They will be dead within a few more years.

m old enough to remember getting that 5 LB catalog in the mail
Yep. That catalog was filled with "wish list" items. Browse through it and see all the things you wish you had and hoped to some day buy.

I just hope before they go belly up eventually that someone has the foresight to archive their parts website. It is pretty much a guaranteed given you can find a manual and parts diagram for anything ever made there,

Got to admit I got my share of wood back then looking at that section of the catalogue. Remember the Montgomery Ward Catalog? Very much like the Sears one.
