Isn't a Type 3 a Type 2 Civilization on a more massive scale? Like for instance the Star Wars Universe is Type 3. I think it's more Type IV when it becomes undetectable by us, because that as we currently understand it goes into other dimensions, which is entirely feasible. From this description, I think we would be able to sense Type III, but not Type IV:
