is this a public or private school?
This kid knows what's up, he reads the teacher threads on here.

Yep those are pretty standard rules in school. Makes sense to me.

I went to a private elementary school and we couldn't hand out party invitations unless everyone in the class was invited...and that was 20 years ago

it's public. Hey,I get the whole not hurting kids feelings. Teacher at recess saw her hand it out and took it.

Back in MY day kids weren't allowed to hand out invites unless all kids were invited. I'm kind of with the school on this one. Mail in the invites. Handing them out at school is inappropriate. Sorry.

Wtf. I guess things have changed since I was in elementary school.
Are you 60?
I'm 43 and it seems that's been about standard operating procedure as long as I've known. Pretty simple rule for which it is pretty simple to understand the reasoning behind it.

Some kids will get their feelings hurt. Just mail them or call the parents.

My kid's school actually has a policy on this stuff if you are bringing invitations to be passed out at school:
1)either all the kids in the class get an invititation
2)just boys or just girls get invitations (pretty common when they are young)
3)if you only want certain kids to come to your party, you send our own invitations and don't bring them to school.

Which elementary?
Mine goes to LOE and she did she same thing for her B-Day party in September. Only wanted a few from a couple of different classes and handed them out at recess. Nothing was ever said except she couldn't hand them out in class if she wasn't inviting everybody

recess and lunch are part of class.
At school = in class as far as I'm concerned

Not being done in class and out in an open area like recess makes the rule even more understandable
In your original post you stated you understand there is a rule and why it is in place, what is your question?
