School Children Killings - So this is a bigger deal?

So 159 children killed at school since 2007 is a bigger deal than the 20,000 U.S. children murdered in their own homes in the same period? Why does everyone get so self righteous about schools and guns? Is it because your brain ony reacts to what is sensationalized on TV?$ It's a tragedy for a child to die in school but since 2007, we've had 159 children die in school shootings, over 20,000 in their own homes. All of you who are irate about gun safety, where were you protesting for the 20,000 children murdered at home??
We won't even mention the 48,000,000 that have been terminated without even being given a chance to live. You are a bunch of f#cking idiots.
And you say we have more school violence than China or Russia??? A U.S. problem??? Death from domestic violence isn't a crime in Russia... you can beat your wife to death in most cases. China? you mean the nation that welcomes baby girls with infanticide.. Ummm, 9 million more little boys in China than girls??? ...I wonder why? And the U.S. has a problem because we've lost a couple of hundred kids?? Get your head out of your a$s.

Because my child goes to school. He doesn’t live in a neighborhood where home shootings are remotely common. So I’m not all that worried.
I get your point, and I agree with most of it. But can’t you see why parents find this to be scarier? It’s a place my child spends his whole day 5 days a week, I want him to be safe.

I have 4 in school. These are not gun deaths at home. These children are beat to death in most cases. I find it a little ironic that we have an epidemic of child abuse that is murdering our children by the thousands and everyone is all of the sudden up in arms if a dozen or so die in a shooting. If the media should televise the aftermath of domestic child homicide like they do a school shooting they would have to stay live 24 hours a day.

I'm not one to make that judgment, I just know it hurts to see any child suffer like those killed yesterday.
Everyone should stop to think and understand how innocent, helpless, and utterly dependent on parent a baby is... then take the time to imagine the terror a child endures being abused by his or her caretaker, sometimes beaten for months or years before finally succumbing in death to repeated internal injuries and broken bones. I don't want to minimize the tragedy that took place yesterday but as horrible as this was, it's not even the tip of the iceberg when considering to the atrocities towards children taking place at this very moment. Shame on our news media for inflating this tragedy to a forefront aligned with ulterior motives and shame on all of us for letting ourselves getting sucked in. It only serves to deflect attention and awareness from the greater tragedies taking place.

I mostly agree with you. A human life is a human life. However, a lot of shooting deaths that happen in America are grown men who have chosen a certain lifestyle where they know that being shot at, or having to shoot someone else is a real possibility. When you enter a school full of young people minding their own business and gun them down, it's a lot different than gangsters shooting each other in the street.
You do have a point though. The media will harp on this particular shooting for months calling for gun bans and blaming white supremacist groups and throwing all white men in with that group. You'll never see them call for those same gun bans after certain music videos are released or when annual crime statistics from south Chicago are made public.

Why can't they both be equally awful? Why does one hold more weight than the other to you? We all should be alarmed and looking for a solution to both issues.

We're kinda talking about two different concepts. My point is strictly directed towards the plight of children... ...that if everyone is so upset about what happened to the children yesterday, why not be at least equally outraged with the fact that more than twice this many are murdered every single week from violent abuse by the hands of their own parents in their own homes.
