I know a couple of people who live there. It's a nice place if you can afford it. Great location, they have a pool, it's gated, pretty nice inside.

had a buddy who lived there. didn't like it much. I moved into 930 poydras and after he visited the building broke his lease and moved there too

my friends live there. to be honest i think it's overpriced for what you get.

Seems to be overpriced for what you get I agree. but having trouble finding a building with availability and gated parking. Found an 800 sq ft at saulet for $1500. Loved the look at merchant lofts but parking is too far away.

did you check out 930 poydras? Parking is on the first 8 floors (i believe it was) in the same building. apartments start on 9 and everything goes through the lobby on 9 with the pool on the roof there. I've never talked to anyone who didn't like it. I know i loved it and if i ever find myself back in new orleasn i'll definitely end up there. I've lived there two separate occasions.

My one friend lived in one of their smallest units and it was enough space for her. The other friends had a nice balcony close to the office. It was big and they had it setup really cute. The best part about it is the parking and the pool IMO. The appliances and apartment interiors in general are nothing to write home about. Walls are paper thin as well.

I have friends who live there...
GOOD:
Great community of young, fun, professional people
Convenient location
Gated
Nice pool
Parking
BAD:
Cheap looking building quality
Neighborhood is shady (an ENTIRE bike rack with bikes was stolen out front)
Expensive for what you get

Maybe try renting a double in a safe part of Uptown? You can get a 1 BR for cheaper than $1500, with off street parking.

Niknik that is pretty much what I came up with.
All the doubles we are finding have street parking for $1500 or less. Off street parking seems to start around 2k.
Looking into 930 poydras.

How many spots do you need? There are definitely places with individual parking spots to be found in the WHD for $1500.
I lived in this building for a while and loved it.

For a double you would probably have to be in the city driving around to find the best places. That's how I found mine. I pay less than $1500, and have 1 off street parking spot.
A spot near my place just went for 1k per month with an off street parking space, too.
I looked at the Saulet when I was moving to New Orleans and my opinion is similar to those in this thread. It doesn't look like it's worth what they are asking. Also, it isn't in the best area if you like to walk places.

But your neighbors are a bunch of tree smoking hippies.
Off street parking will be harder to find.

This is true, but I did solve that problem.

Saulet is great if you have pets. A lot of pet stations with bags and greenspace to walk them. Also easy and safe to walk or bike places, 5 minutes to rusty nail and 10 minute walk to magazine and jackson. Also have great pools and a decent gym for residents. No pets and parking not a big deal, you can find better spots in the warehouse district or downtown. Obviously you can find good rental housing uptown but its becoming harder and harder to find good spots at a reasonable price.
That comment about the neighborhood being unsafe was 5 years ago.
