It's possible to DNA test fecal matter, and that's good enough in San Francisco.

Does California not know of the identity-protecting properties of a simple white hood?

Why, what bad could come from it if you have done nothing wrong?

Irrelevant.

It's the principle of the matter, and the matter at hand is as American as hotdogs and baseball: To stifle the tendency of human governance to turn oppressive in its nature as time wears on. I won't willingly hand over even more power to a group of lifelong employees of the state who've already abused their privileges thus far- and most of them are disconnected from our reality; they live as a different species than the common man.

We'll never legislate ourselves into a completely failsafe society that's 100% without hazard, danger, consequence, or calamity. As far as destroying the inherent dangers that a free citizen encounters on any given day, this technology does little to stamp them out like, say, a seat belt does. Au contraire, it only mitigates for the aftermath of the actual dangers that initially warranted its use, e.g., murder, terrorism, fraud, etc.

Do we not already have plenty of laws on the books to address those dangers, and do they work 100%? Yes we do, and hell no they do not, otherwise there would be no reason to find a murderer in a crowd. Do they work at all? Obviously so, but how far must we go to never reach our goal of 100% safety? Even if we hit 90%, EvEn If OnE lIfE wAs SaVeD, 10% of us are still worm food.

It's a matter of backbone: even if we did become a 100% safe-from-ourselves society, freedom as we know it- freedom like every living thing in the world desires- WILL die.

And so we must choose: Freedom, or the supposed safety offered by the nanny state? Little by little we must choose, and every brick mortared into the wall fortifies the divide between our freedom- YOUR freedom- and the freedom of the governing humans over us to rule our lives as they see fit.

I choose freedom.

THAT is why.

They are not doing this for any great reasons.

They are doing this to protect Illegal immigrants.

If you did nothing wrong, there should be no concern. If this technology is used to identify child predators, murder suspects, and other serious problems, but why would you not use it? Why not just legislate it’s use to I’D wanted criminal or identify those who’ve committed crimes?

The phrase "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" isn't just a pithy statement.
It has meaning to people that aren't shallow, self centered and stupid.

Isn’t it a bit ironic that most of this technology was developed near SF?
