SLC is insanely nice. Denver is the only other place I’ll live.
It’s an incredible city. I’d move there in a heartbeat

I lived in the SLC area for about 20 years. Lived in Draper (Suncrest neighborhood) and that's the place to be. Or Lehi...it's growing like crazy and you might be able to find a good spot on the bench area. The views of the valley are phenomenal. I'll warn you though...the weather is stupid crazy sometimes. And if you're up above the valley...prepare to shovel snow.
I worked in Lehi - around the point of the mountain. That's where most of the tech companies have set up shop.
Overall, I enjoyed my time there and it's really beautiful but I wanted year round warmth so I moved to Arizona last year.
There's plenty of non-mormons to connect with. If the Elders come to your house...just say no thanks and they'll leave you alone.

Where in Arizona did you move to? How do you like it?

Why don’t you just become a Mormon and fake it

I moved to Peoria initially. I love the area but my job is in Scottsdale so I'm moving to N. Scottsdale next year. That's my last move.
If I want mountains and snow, I can head up to Flagstaff and Sedona is just awesome. This is a great area to be in. Mexico, San Diego...all pretty close.

Don't live in SLC. Live in Park City. 90% non-Mormon population.

Lived in PC since 2017. Haven’t met a Mormon yet. 100x more Jewish people than Mormons.

This is true, but they also strongly favor other LDS members in work settings. Growing up somewhere with a fairly large Mormon population, I promise the OP is not wrong in being afraid that promotions and other opportunities within an LDS owned or managed company might not exist for him.
I applied for a job with a small medical group that was majority LDS. Despite having better training and more clinical/surgical experience, the vote amongst partners went right along religious affiliation lines. Every single LDS partner voted for the LDS candidate.
If the company is run or owned by LDS folks, be prepared to get passed over for promotions simply because you aren’t a member of the church.

How is the traffic in SLC?

The locals talked about traffic being really bad.
I think the place is growing so quickly that they just aren't used to heavy traffic, it's new to them.
Compared to places like Boston it was a breeze.

1. I don't think Park City is in my budget.
2. Driving PC to SLC every day for work would be brutal.
It's pretty much straight up and straight down for 30 minutes.

One of the things I liked about the grid in SLC is that you can take a lot of the surface streets through the valley and stay off I-15. 215 can be ok...Bangerter is better and they're doing a lot of work to make it a better loop.
Then again, I lived in Draper and worked in Lehi...my commute was 15 mins. I was barely on 15.

Yeah, it's quite expensive. Jeremy Ranch and some of the other areas around PC are equally expensive. You could look at the Foothill or Sugar House areas...more progressive and non-mormon and they're on the east side. If you can afford it...Olympus Cove is really nice. Anything close to the U is going to be expensive. Avenues are awesome though. You definitely want to stay on the east side.

Yeah, Parley's is brutal in the winter and that is a bit of a commute.

I stayed in Sandy while I was there.
Took State Street(I think that's what it was called) south and I think it took me through Draper.
Looked like a nice area.

I haven't accepted yet.
I just flew out for interviews and was offered.
Did a little exploring.
The job is in the Sandy/South Jordan area.

Is there any decent housing for 400k or less? If so, I'm not seeing it.
