Sales calls and the do not call list

Isn't there a law that if you request to be put on a do not call list, that they must remove you? I have ADT calling me constantly about upgrading my alarm system, but I don't even use ADT anymore. I've been asked to be removed from their call list 5 times to the point that I can recite the BS they are going to tell me about how they are going to get their manager involved to make sure it gets taken off.
I've even gotten certified mail that left a note on my door saying I had to pick it up from the post office. I was waiting on something important, so I drove to the post office just to find out it was a letter from ADT telling me I needed to update my system
So is there anything I can actually do? It's not that big of a deal to hang up, but it's the principle of the thing. I've been called no less than 20 times, and most times I just hung up. But I've specifically asked them to take me off the list at least 5 times, and even stayed on the line to tell them that I've been told all of this before, and it didn't work, so they need to do something different. I'm getting pissed, but don't know what I can actually do about it

Troll the shite out of them. Make it entertaining for yourself.

The law doesn't apply to companies you already do business with. If you used to have ADT but then dropped them it sounds like they might fall into some kind of grey area.

I've been in cold call sales. They are not ever going to take you off the list, hoping one day you will say "yes"

United Wireless security is the ones that piss me off - I got 35 calls in a week from them. i am probly on a watch list, cause the last time the called me i told them i would find them and burn their business to the ground with them inside.

Just keep telling them to send someone out. Then when they send someone out tell the rep you didn't request him and slam the door.

Thing is, it isn't even a sales call technically. It's to update the cellular receiver on their system in a house that I don't even live in anymore. I've never used them at my new house. There is no money for them to make. The upgrade is supposedly free. They keep saying "this is your last chance to upgrade for free or you system will be obsolete", blah blah blah. I really need some good ideas to legally f**k with them I guess.

I ask them to wait for a minute and then set the phone down on the counter and leave the room.
