ANyone know about life in Sakhalin Russia? Good or Bad?? Ive heard they got some chicks there but it seems pretty bleak..

I know a few people who worked there in the past. Bleak, bad weather, long travel and nothing to do. They would ship working girls in on the train.

You live on a compound, and it's so cold during the winter that it's not safe to work outside at times. There are some chicks that work there, but not enough to write home about, blus, no booze on the compounds. I wouldn't live there, but rotations wouldn't be bad for a year or so.

The southern half of the island was Japanese from 1905 until 1945. There has been talk of linking the island to the mainland via tunnel and/or bridge since the time of Stalin.
I believe they even started digging the tunnel, but abandoned it after Stalin's death.
