I'll worry about this when that Beta Pootin finally rides on 2 rather than 3 wheels...
Wimp.
Wimp.

Is that supposed to be a twin tail Tornado knock off?
No, it's not really a knock-off of any western aircraft. Rather it's the Russian's answer to a threat they thought was real but really wasn't, namely waves of very high flying super sonic American bombers penetrating Soviet airspace to deliver nuclear payloads.

I figure if you have to go out in a blaze of glory, that's near the top of the list.

How could that thing fly mach 2 with all that shite hanging on under the wings?
You can put a brick into orbit if you strap a big enough engine to it. That's how.
MOAR POWER!

That was a B-52. Young James Earl Jones on his crew, too.

It's a missile. Not a new nuclear weapon. It's just a delivery system.
Plus the things the US is packing now.. make fat man look like a firecracker

That was a B-52.

Yeah, as ways to go, "Underneath a detonating thermonuclear weapon" is a pretty perfect way. You might not even have time to register the flash before you stop being biology and start being physics. Oddly enough, though, "A few miles away from a detonating thermonuclear weapon" is one of the most horrific ways to go.

Seems like they had some issue with fuel shifting during flight. If I'm thinking of the right aircraft.
Yeah - fuel stacking and they needed drogues to land (if they landed with more than a certain percentage of fuel AND full bomb load).
BUFFs couldn't land fully loaded, either. They would just dump the fuel in the rare case of an emergency landing. They never put more than about 10% over (wartime reserve) what they needed to fly a B-52 mission. I'm not sure what the protocols were for the Hustler - it was such a high performance, problematic aircraft, they probably had their own deal going.

US found it to be a tin can with little technical prowess and the Russians were using over inflated numbers in their specs. However, the US also found it could take a beating and parts were dirt cheap. It may not have been a super spec'd aircaft but wasn't without it's merits.
Sounds like you are talking about the AK-47

Absolutely accurate as well. The F-4 Phantom was a US Air Force experiment to see if, given enough thrust, even a brick will fly. The F-4 was a twin engine "multipurpose" aircraft, with fighter, strike, EW, recon, etc. variants. The checklist for an F-4 if you lose 1 engine reads:
"Step 1: Get out of the aircraft as quickly as possible."
It has the glide ratio of a set of car keys.

I can't find a source for this that is not a British tabloid.

True. But she sure was one pretty bird IMO...
