So good to hear ole man. Doxie owners are like Corvette owners minus the douchiness. We just get it because neither are for the faint of heart.

I had a poodle a little over 20 years ago that had epileptic seizures. She would shake really bad and her whole body was stiff as a board. Otherwise, she was very normal. There was seemingly no rhyme or reason for why they happened, and like your doggie, the poodle would get scared and confused and would wonder "WTF is going on?". Back then , they actually prescribed Valium for that. Not sure if they still do. The key was making sure she didn't swallow her tongue and, like someone earlier mentioned, just trying to comfort and calm the dog as much as possible until the seizure passes.

Glad you and your doggie seem to be on the road to recovery!

Took Buster home yesterday. He gonna be on phenobarbital, and Pottasium bromide, for the seizures.

My main concern is the effect of the seizure, his gait is impaired, looses his balance sometimes and his trot is different, he tried to jump on the chair and didn't make it.

He is showing the symptoms of a tumor, based on what I've been reading. I hope this is not the case, what a bitch for his 1st seizure to be so severe.

He acts otherwise, just like before, except for very little barking,

How old is he? My 9 year old boxer had his first seizure 2 nights ago and is currently at LSU vet school. Needless to say it was a scary situation never having experienced it before.

Hope everything works out Ole Man.

Wife and I had to put down our miniature black/tan at the age of 17.

Still miss her and haven't had another dog since.

Thinking about getting a pair of miniatures now that we have a kid. Wife says the dogs do better in pairs when left alone during the day.

Update on Buster, got him home Wednesday, was suffering from Ataxia, loss coordination in his back end, He's back to normal as of Thursday.

Took em both to the vet Friday for their shots,

told the vet I broadcast Talstar Sunday morning 1st thing he said was it can cause seizures.

he advised me to keep him on the phenobarb and pottasium bromide twice a day until4 or 5 days thill i run out and cut the dosage to once a day.

If no seizures occur it's a high chance it was talstar, if he seizes it's epilepsy,

I will not be using Talstar in the future, even though it says it is safe for pets

He is his old self again
