Run Flat Tires

I am not sure which board to post this to. I have a car that was outfitted with run flat tires. The first set was Goodyear from the factory. I replaced it with a set of Bridgestone. Since them, two firm but modest potholes have cost me two tires. Does anyone have experience with these tires? Is my problem run flat tires in general or Bridgestone? I feel that my other car with traditional tires would have survived the two hits. I really don't want to spend $300 every time I encounter a rough road.

I have Goodyear run flats on mine. I hate these damn things. I’ve had pirelli and Bridgestone and they all have the same issues. It’s better just to buy a spare kit and put regular tires on the vehicle

I have had Bridgestone run flats on multiple vehicles. I have had to nail a deep pothole to bust them.
Don't know where you are getting $300 because that's not what o paid new for them and with road hazard they are much less to replace.

Run flats run your wallet flat.
Buy regular old tires and get a wheel/tire combo as a spare for the trunk. Don't forget to get a good jack and lug wrench!

this.
i could count on 2 hands the number of flats i've had in the last 30 years. even on a car you've never changed a tire on before it literally takes about 5 minutes to figure out the jack/spare config.

My experience with 2 BMW’s and one Benz... find a full size spare ... run flats are loud and handle poorly.

Run flats are terrible. More expensive and doesn’t ride as smooth.

Is it time to reintroduce the Double Eagles.

Never had any trouble with run flats, but was only mostly Texas roads.

I don't have a spare tire and I have Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires on my car (305/30/19). I would never run with run flats, I just keep roadside on my car and I make sure it covers a flatbed no matter what it takes to get one to me. I might go with some Michelin Pilot sport 4S tires when I need another set.

"Run flats" are about as good as any other technology designed to save you money at the gas pump, i.e. terrible. If I'm shopping for a car and I see a combined MPG number above about 24, I just keep walking.

Ditch the run flat tires, learn how to change a flat and keep a spare.

I had Bridgestone runflats and they were loud and rough af although I didn't ever have a flat with them. I've gotten multiple sets of Perellis since and will likely stick with those.

That's my problem though. BMW convertible. No where to put a spare.

Have been running these and very happy with them. They have held up pretty well mileage wise. Have a nice looking sidewall that doesn't look balloony either.
