1) Never ever order anything called, CAJUN, NEW ORLEANS STYLE. Anywhere 40miles north of I-10 or out of the state of Louisiana.

I would generally agree with this with exceptions for cajun and creole folks have moved to an area and started cooking there. Knew a cat back in the 80's who cooked they way I remember and dude was well past 500 mile from LA. He did ditch the NIH tho that far from home.

I've found that to be extremely hit or miss

I always try to at local and try out what the area has and go to small family restaurants. Except when I go to India. Then I just eat at the hotel and protein bars.

Look for gas stations with food cooked by older black women.

Copy that. I’ve been twice and both times the ribs were tough as shoe leather and not very good quality meat to start with

4) If you go to a Smokehouses/BBQ place look for a place with a large parking lot.. places with bad food don’t need a lot of places to park.

Don't order seafood in Kansas City and don't order steak on the eastern seaboard. Eat food from where it's from as much as possible.

Eat where you see old people eating.

Old people aren't known for discriminating palates. They LOVE bland.

An old people travel dining show would just feature a couple of old people commenting about the food being "too peppery" or "needs salt".

They would bitch about the tea or coffee being too strong.

They would also just order the most bland items on the menu and would look forward to angel food cake for dessert or if they felt like splurging - strawberry shortcake.

We make sandwiches beforehand and eat them when we stop. Superior to anything fast food and you avoid all the greasiness.

I guess you only eat at places called "Tavern and Table" or "Douchebag and frickhead".
