Nice straw man.

You're comparing taking the life of someone vs. providing a platform for the sale of goods. Whether or not those goods were/are illegal is besides the point. He created a website, for Christ sake. Yet, he is staring at the barrel of a lifetime in jail.

I know that most of this board consists of deep, southern, backwoods retard mindset, but come the frick on. It probably won't hit close to home because most of you don't have the mental acuity to even begin having the tech knowledge of how to create a platform for users, so you would never find yourself staring down the path of being inventful enough to create something that could eventually be turned against you and slapped with a life sentence.

But just try for a moment to realize the disparity in the application of the law between this guy, whom created a platform (and allegedly "hired a Hitman"), and the sick fricks that actually commit heinous crimes and don't get a life sentence.

I don’t agree with it but that doesn’t mean his sentencing is necessarily wrong

You would think the "get off my land" types would have some sympathy for this guy.

Presidential Pardon Sought Following the Supreme Court ruling denying Ulbricht’s petition, the Libertarian Party asked President Trump to pardon Ulbricht at its annual convention this month. But I guess you could say he was just “running a website.”

I’m with you up until a certain point. My personal views on the legality of drugs notwithstanding, this guy created a website that sold narcotics across state and country borders. Interstate and international drug trafficking is a pretty big no-no in this country still, no? He has some (a lot) of responsibility in this matter as he was the creator and owner of that website. Now, I’m not saying that he should get two life sentences for that, but some jail time is warranted IMO.

Secondly, he created and ran a website where supposedly you could hire hitmen to murder somebody. I know the allegations against himself for hiring a hitman are dubious at best; but in the larger view of schemes, I feel like if he knew something like that was going on, he had a responsibility to stop that from happening. Especially when you think about how the guy is a so-called Libertarian and one of their biggest mantra is that as long as you’re not harming another human, then it’s ok. Well, I’d say fricking murdering somebody is harming another person. Again, I don’t think he should serve two life sentences for that, but some jail time is warranted.

Just my two cents.

I don't think anyone is disputing that. It's more the over the top sentencing to prove a point. A point that has never worked in history.

He was sentenced like a modern day mob boss.

Which is an equivalent to what he was. He literally setup a meet and greet for illegal shite. I don’t know how else you can spin that.

Yeah I agree. It's like a mob boss going to prison for racketeering instead of murder.

He was a sociopath. He paid for at least two people to be killed and believed it had been done and even aside from that, he didn’t just enable Joe Blow to securely buy his weed stash, he enabled large scale operations even at the cartel level.

Yeah, prison for a very long time.
