I think that is pretty much standard markup for both materials and unburdened labor costs on fixed-price bids.

Sounds like you’re part of the insurance scam.
Every roof I’ve done there has been an insurance adjuster on site dealing directly with the roofer approving or in most instances rejecting what the roofer is telling the adjuster what needs to be done.
I think everyone can agree that insurance is the worst investment scam as far as return on investment that citizens are forced into investing in by law.

Why don’t men shingle their own roofs? Thats what I would do if I couldn’t afford it. Thats what my dad and uncles did for decades.

I have never had an adjuster on the job while I replace a roof if an estimate doesn’t include drip edge replace t flashing vents. I give the homeowner a price of replacing it’s up to him to replace or not
