I may buy property in JP just so I can vote for Newell. Damn that was nice to see him call out the race baiters.

Newell does his job well, he just needs to change his 1940's view on Pot.

Ahhh.... Didn't know he was a Devil Weed guy. That changes things and balances him back to somewhere just above Normal Scumbag Politician.

Did McKnight have it in his hand? That's all that really matters since the shots supposedly came from inside of Gassers car and McKnight fell right by the passenger door.

2.) Was McKnight out of his car and trying to break into Gassers'?

Gasser's window was down and Normand said a verbal confrontation was taking place between the two. McKnight had to at least be leaning down to see into Gasser's douchemobile.

That's fine and all but it does nothing but fuel the fire. He should've just addressed why they arrested Gasser today and what led to it. Maybe make a comment or two but what you saw today was typical grandstanding by Capt. Insaneo.

Since the sherrif told everyone that a gun belonging to the stepfather was found in the stepfather's vehicle, he mayb already have a statement from the shooter that McKnight did not waved a gun. I said that because, in my opinion, if the shooter did report that he probably would not have been arrested.

And finally, according to NOLA, Gasser did not mention a gun or know if it's existence

Covers JP. They do this and jury lets him walk

Makes them look stupid for basically escorting a guy home and then after public outcry charging and arresting him.

There are two huge variables that we don't know but that a good lawyer and frankly the evidence may prove:
1.) Did McKnight have access to the gun in the car and if so could Gasser of seen it?
2.) Was McKnight out of his car and trying to break into Gassers'?

A good lawyer can easily throw all kinds of doubt with both of those. So really IMO its now up to the prosecution to prove those without a doubt. I don't see how you can doubt this?

Again, at this point and this is just a huge guess here, but I would bet that Gasser pleads to something pretty small. Maybe 2-3 years or something. He seems remorseful, he clearly did it, he has a history of this (is that allowed in court)? There's a lot of doubt on both sides, I don't see the prosecution pushing for a heavy sentence if they can just get him to plead and move on.

This is wholly different from your bold pronouncement that you could get Gasser off easily.

What evidence "may" prove your two propositions other than Gasser himself? Having access is a far cry from using a gun.

You seem to keep forgetting that you have no idea what all Gasser memorialized in those 12 hours of taped interviews. If he said, for example, there was no gun that he saw nor did McKnight threaten him with a gun or threaten to secure a gun etc..., then where do you stand?

It's beyond a reasonable doubt, not no doubt at all.

I was unclear on whether he actually said that. I would assume that the shooter was asked if he saw a gun or questions along those lines, but I couldn't find any articles specifically stating anything about that.

Well golly gee I wasted 3 years and a couple thousand dollars going to law school. Could have just made facts up that suited my clients and win every case. Who knew this was the key to being a good lawyer.

That's how I read his posts, also. Make up facts to create doubt.

Really? That's all that matters?

Did Will Smith have a gun in his hand when he got shot 8 times in the back?

In regards to where the gun was when McKnight was shot, yes. In the Smith case, literally everyone from jump knew Smith had a gun because multiple witnesses said Smith said he did.
