Wonder what went into that decision. I think he's a really god writer and always enjoyed his perspective. Good luck Mad Dog

It's sad what is happening to the TP. It used to be a decent paper back in the day with some pretty solid reporters on the news end like the late Dennis Persica and editorialists like James Gill. But now it's not even a shell of its former self.

For sports reporting they have not been the same since Pete Finney died. De Shazier is pretty good but he ain't Pete and he's not Bob Roesler. I thought adding Higgins was a pretty good move especially for LSU coverage ( the dude loves LSU...he truly bleeds purple and gold , just ask him) He was popular in Memphis at the Commercial Appeal back in the day and gave in depth SEC coverage and analysis.

WWL is a hot mess.....really it has not been he same since Buddy D died back in 2005 and its daytime line up is horrible.......Scoot bugs me, Tommy Tucker is.....can't listen to him. I can stomach Newell Normand once in a while

I think you mean journalism costs too much money. Much cheaper for them to have an unpaid intern who copies and pastes from press releases and calls it "news".

Traditional media, in general, is struggling, and a lot of these owners have given up on New Orleans.

WWL Radio, WWL TV, and T-P were all once very strong - top rated in the country in many regards - outlets for these corporate owners. After Katrina, it seems like the corporate owners cut back the amount of support they gave these places.

All three used to be, for most people, destination assignments. Now, WWL TV is just a stopping point for young journalists (except for the old timers who are retiring). WWL Radio is a hot mess that clearly is being ignored. And the T-P just tries to do things as cheaply as possible.

That’s ok, they still have Jarvis Writing his race baiting crap for them. I’m sure since he knows he sucks, he’s ok with making about $18k a year.

WWL radio has been badly affected by both Buddy's death AND David Tyree's death around the same time. Add to it, Andre Trevigne who used to be quite solid having lots of family issues and health issues. There's been no one to compensate and really step up.

Tommy Tucker and Scoot are rock/shock jocks with high opinions of themselves. Of course I couldn't do that work, so perhaps I shouldn't say anything.

They could at least bring back King Edward Cigar Time. ;)
