This is a step in the right direction but I want to see $1000 for every 18+ American citizen regardless of income. This will help families keep afloat & can prop up small businesses when people spend the money. Rich people may not NEED the money but they most assuredly will slow down spending just like everyone else and thus a stimulus to them still helps out local business.
Sure, some idiots will go buy cigarettes and booze and not necessities, but at least that money makes it back into circulation. They'll probably be buying that from a local corner store at least.
People on this board can laugh all they want but our middle class is as thin as ever and will fall apart quickly if shutdowns drag on for much longer and government doesn't bail the people out.
I'm a Yang Ganger so I've been a UBI fan since I learned about Yang, but in this sort of situation it makes more immediate sense than ever.

I remember getting a check from the government around 2008. It was like $1200. I don't remember what I did with it.

I think Mitt's plan is for every American, regardless of income.
We give so much money to this government without seeing any returns. Screw the debt when some of my money comes back to me.
