The Roman army was mostly not Roman. They hired barbarians to fill the ranks.

And the evidence has mounted in recent years that the Romans were probably more colonial in Germania post-Teutoberg than they were pre-Teutoberg. They never integrated it because there simply wasn’t shite there they really wanted.

Not true. Calvary only. They did have auxiliary units. Roman citizenship was a requirement upon entry of the legionnaires

possibly. if Rome had ever fully pacified Germania. which they didn’t. ergo, impossible to tell. once Roman supply lines got stretched, they became incredibly vulnerable

They were already overextended and Germania was a whole another world outside the Roman norm
