roll up garage doors vs lift style doors - which one is the better choice to have?
i am thinking about getting one of those metal frame garage buildings built and i dont know whether to get one built with the roll up doors or the lift style doors.
with the lift style they build a standard garage door sized frame and then i put the doors in myself, thats because they only schedule door installs with the roll up door companies but it also means i save a lot by not having to buy their higher priced doors.
as far as long term durability and maint, which is the better and easier to open door to have?

Roll up doors are noisy as hell to open/close but take up less ceiling space.

I chose chain assist roll up doors. No need to worry about springs and I can add an electric motor with controls later.

My lifted F250 won't fit in a garage.

Let me see - it's raining like a mother when I pull up to the garage door. I know which one I prefer.

You can get an opener on both types dummy

ALL COME IS CHEAP shite VS GOOD shite.
Those metal frame garages are a bitch to install doors on.
Allow about 20" above the door frame for the door to be installed, this includes at least 8" past the edges on both sides and more if to chose a Jack Shaft opener.

Which can handle hurricane force winds?

well partly my reason for asking because the only roll up doors i am familiar with have the hanging chains that you have to pull on like 50 ft of chain to raise and lower the damn things all the way
i understand you can get motors for them to be electric but i will mostly likely not have power to the garage for the first year i am using it strictly for storage so the PITA of slow motion chain operation isnt very attractive. but neither is the idea of trying to install doors myself on an all metal structure that may or may not fit correctly without modifications.
i just dont know if they might have improved since then with better geared doors now so it takes less pulling on chains to raise and lower them?

both "claim" to be able too, but i think the roll up sitting in a continuous track would be stronger then the lift with attachments points to the tracks every 16-18"
whether that would fail in a hurricane before the whole building fails is debatable

saw the commercials and i laugh so hard every time i see that giant fold down screen door for your garage.
i dont think that would last 5 minutes before a kid, dog, newspaper delivery, or any of a hundred things tore that screen and it would be trashed
