But with the chromecast you can stream movies from sites and have it play on your tv? Like if I was streaming a ufc fight on firstrowsports?

If so I'm buying one later today

Yes. This why I have it. I have streamed baseball games off justin.tv and movies off various websites. Haven't had to use firstrowsports yet but I'm sure it works just the same.

I agree, and that's why I choose to spend my hard earned money on quality

Anything you can watch on your iOS device you can stream via AppleTV.

There is a reason why apple has sold more appleTV devices than chromecast and roku combined

I'd use it for HBOGO, Netflix and MLB.tv primarily.

If you have Comcast, they don't support HBO Go on Roku. I found this out after buying one. Now I have a Chromecast. Just an FYI for people with Comcast.

I bought my Mom a Roku not long ago.

$56.00 plus tax.

I've got an older one.Mine has all the same channel capability but I had to get on my laptop to sign up for all of them.

The newer one seems to sync in with the channels.Remote has a Netfix button.

eta: A Roku3 is $95.00.

I just use mine for Netflix,Crckle,Hula, etc.

The basic Roku does that.

If you have HBO on your cable then your Roku will get it.Same with ESPNU I believe.

I can't get HBOGO but I don't have HBO on my cable.

Right. For you!

The issue is with you, not Roku

WTF? I simply let people know that Comcast Xfinity does not allow HBO Go over a Roku. Are you drunk?

And the issue is with Comcast.

Cutting the cord applies to cable. Netflix is one tool that helps cut costs, but still be able to watch some shows. For HBOGo, you would have to get someone's log in information. I cut the cord in January 2102 and am much happier. I have Netflix, Hulu+ (which I might get rid of soon), Amazon Prime (we order a lot of stuff from them other than media) and use Spotify for music. I can find other shows like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead on streaming sites. The only thing that is tough is getting quality video for Saints' games since most of if not all the LSU games are broadcast.
