The Mid City Redevelopment Alliance and the Mid City Merchant's Association only want you there if you are visiting the local businesses.
OK. In order to comply with the directives of the Mid City assholes I will stay away and religiously avoid the local businesses there. I hope every damn one of those businesses fail, I give this idiocy a year tops before they restore Government Street to sanity.

They’ll claim that they can’t because it would be too expensive to remove the dumb medians.

My issue with North is the lights are often poorly timed between Peachtree st and I-110. There’s fewer lights on North, but I typically have to stop at every single one of them.
North is also awful heading east bound from Acadian to Foster. If you are traveling in the right lane you will need to get your car realigned due to all the potholes and bumps. I've been traveling that route ever since they have been screwing up Government street.
The smoothest street in that area used to be Acadian Thruway between Government and I-10. They decided to tear it up and repave it and stop U turns in the hopes that they can lower traffic accidents.
That makes no sense. The accidents are caused by the kids getting out of high school at the same time and texting while driving. They don't see the car in front of them stopped and rear end them. This is a near daily occurrence. My Dad lives in that area, and sees this all the time. Meanwhile the whole road (which bears repeating, was once the best road surface in the area) is down to two lanes and completely stripped.
They should have prioritized repaving North to make it smoother since they want to reduce traffic on Government with the road diet.
It boggles the mind.

The bus running down Government coming from the DMV runs every 30 minutes. It goes all the way to 22nd street, where it stops at the terminal, then goes back the way it came to the Mall of Louisiana. The Highland Road bus runs every 30 minutes, from the terminal on 22nd, down Government, to the Frostop, then mostly Highland the rest of the way to the mall.
