Even more LSU trivia for the real folks-
Dave Fortman of the band Ugly Kid Joe used to go to that same frickin astronomy class with his girlfriend Donna. Dave was attending SLU but dated LSU. Lol Yall have no idea what legendary women roamed the quad.

Astronomy class was fall 1988. Double D Allison Deas sat next to me and Dege sat behind me. Where were you?

What years all that took place?
Dege was around LSU starting in like 86. He was a couple years younger than me. I knew him then and we had several common friends in music and the punk scene, but we weren’t buds or anything. He picked up an affinity for various intoxicants and struggled with depression his entire life, but he also did cool stuff anyway, repeatedly, ever since. Very sad.

Legg, who has a BA in philosophy, worked as a cab driver, dishwasher, journalist, manual laborer, warehouseman, mechanic, driver, line cook, and a caseworker in a homeless shelter in order to support his artistic compulsions.

Why are you telling him to frick off?
Dege was a junky, a deadbeat dad, and a snitch who happened to get lucky. He gave his ex girlfriend a fatal dose of opiates and literally got away with murder.
Before you start issuing certificates of nobility ask around. After he robbed the LSU student healthcenter he snitched his way outta trouble. John Liter lost his job teaching math because he had cannabis seeds in his house.
But you are probably JW from the Advocate who already had written some puff piece about Django…

He used to have jam sessions in an office building in the Oil Center in Lafayette near my office. I could hear them jamming when I’d walk outside. And once I met him and we talked about music. He was a very nice and humble guy.

He’s in the film industry in some capacity.
Does anyone know who made Dege’s cigar box guitars? Pretty sure it’s a local guy.

He was always super nice to me when we worked together at Ray's Sports Bar and Grill in the kitchen. 98-99.
Sucks to hear. He had some good songs.
