It's mainly because they didn't even bother to watch the video themselves. They're just parroting what they see on social media because it fits their worldview.

With the Blake killing, there are multiple social media posts by people I know who still insist that he was breaking up a fight and then just tried to leave and the cops shot him in the back while he was trying to leave.
I have no problem discussing the merits of use of force in the case but that discussion is irrelevant if you completely fabricate the facts.

I just watched the videos again. There was a bunch of additional gunfire in the encounter that did not come from Kyle. This includes the initial shot from a handgun to Kyle's left.
