I mailed a payment to the IRS on Jan 11th. It was due on the 18th. It was returned today! It said insufficient address, but it is the exact address on their form which read "Send payment to..."

Has anyone else experienced anything like this during the shutdown or heard of anything?

I guess I'll be calling these fine folks in the morning...

Just mail it again with the original envelope included. Keep a copy for your records.

I plan to do that too tomorrow. I still want to call early. Hopefully I will not be on hold too long (lol)...

Update: I paid the Jan payment via irs website. However, I tried to call 4 times today. Their call volume is so high, it simply hangs up after an automated message.

I tried to use their email and chat room to discuss the problem. Neither will discuss anything other than simple questions about forms and tracking refunds.

I hate the IRS.
