Reservists wearing uniform while not on duty

Douche move or no? In this case it was a guy wearing his Class A's to a (non military) funeral. Seemed a bit of trying too hard to me, but IDK.
Was not a drill weekend, BTW.

Maybe he doesn't have a suit.

Nah this guy is an officer with a decent civilian job.

Probably an Aggy. They love that shite.

Yeah kinda douchy then. Maybe in his mind it's more formal than a normal suit.

I remember during my sophomore year there was some marines who went to tigerland in their dress blues.

It's not advised to wear ACU's outside of duty. I couldn't wait to take them off and wear civi clothes after I got off duty when I was Active.

I've never seen that

Wearing a uniform to a formal event such as wedding or funeral is fine. But what gets me are these guys that go grocery shopping, to restaurants, or just to walk around town in their uniform. Go home and change

I'll say douche move. I have a buddy in the reserves and have only seen him in uniform 1 time. And it was only because he met me for lunch and came straight from doing something on base. People tried to buy him drinks and he explained that he was in the reserves and that they shouldn't buy him anything.
But, maybe the guy thought he didn't have anything more appropriate to wear...?

Had the deceased been in the military and the family just didn't have military honors at the funeral? If not, it seems kind of strange. I did 25+ years and never wore a uniform to a non-military function unless it was a situation where I didn't have time to change.

I spent 12 years in, and never once wore my dress uniform off post. I never wanted to exaggerate that I was in the military. I only wore ACU's when traveling on military orders. When I deployed to Afghanistan in 2009, I had to wear Multicam at the airport. Most people who looked at me had a weird look on their face, knew I was headed to Afghanistan.

Those Marines shouldn't have been wearing their dress blues to a bar. WTF were they thinking if true? Under any and all circumstances, military personnel should never wear their uniform to a drinking establishment/club/bar.
What dumbshits.

It's a great way to pick up women.

The funeral thing is a bit more acceptable if still a little weird. When I see junior enlisted rolling around in uni at restaurants and shopping in Baton Rouge I assume it's some reservists/guardsmen looking for a pat on the back.
Like others said, I couldn't wait to get out of my uniform at the end of the duty day. Nothing good happened in uniform on active duty.
