Vinyl "replacement windows" do not come with a nail flange attached. They are typically measured for an exact custom fit and made to order from the manufacturer without the nail flange.
Only new construction windows should have nail flanges attached bc it's a pain in the arse to cut the flanges off and you risk compromising the vinly window frame if you do.
Relief windows, window world, glass guru, and BR windows typically don't come with nail flanges attached unless specifically ordered that way.

he's looking at vinyl. Aluminum clad will cost at least double. Casement will be pricier than single or double hung. TMK they don't even make a non low e window anymore.

For replacements, andersen renewal is the one I hear most using.

I would avoid wood at all costs. They do not handle moisture well at all. 50% of our business is probably replacing "top of the line" pella wood windows that got rotted out by moisture and poor install which customers paid outrageous prices for.

Luckily, original wood windows on old houses hold up just fine if you treat them right. And it ain't a big difference in energy savings costs.

Ben Smith owner of Guru Glass or Tommy Kissinger with Tommy’s windows, doors, and siding. Both are good guys and do good work. I have used them both.

Whatever you do, DO NOT USE La Maison Complete. Their owner is a dick. Was going to buy a house full of windows a year ago and he gave me some grade A bullshite. Went with Relief and couldn't be happier.

Anyone have any experience with the Pella shop on Airline by the fairgrounds? Everytime I pass it, nobody is there.

BR area, I called three over the past 3 years, 2 advertise locally on tv. Never called me back, I even called and begged for a bid because I was definitely replacing atleast 5 windows at first and 3 windows and 3 more (budget reasons).
window world was the only one that communicated and called me back. About a month ago I replaced a large wood frame window - I didn't bother wasting my time. I just called window world.
good luck.
