Earls has the same cover for cheap shite only and once the free drinks time is over they charge 9-10 dollars for crown russe. That model works, it does not work with crown and other liquors at that level
Earls charges 10 for cover, doesn't charge the regulars (20% of the crowd).
They charge 10 for well, 12 for call. The kicker is that earls is serving drinks in a 16oz cup, more than likely with 2.5-3oz of actual liquor in their drinks.
And be for you ask how the frick I know that... I used to run earls.
They lost money every damn Thursday. But it brought pretty girls in for the owner to look at.
Same reason he does free drinks for ladies from 8-10 on Wednesdays with NO cover.
Earls doesn't car about day to day profit margin because they usually net 100k every St. Paddy's day.

I like Earls a lot, St Paddys day was miserable this year tho. It was 90 plus degrees and they had no tents anywhere giving shade and I have my doubts if they even had the air conditioner on inside (not that you could move anyway inside)

I gotten over changed there a few times and their clientele is basically reggies plus a few years and law students.

Yeah I like Ivars but if you don't know what you're going into it's a realllll shite hole definition of a dive.
ETA the clientele isn't anywhere near Reggies. Mostly mid twenties crowd with some old guys mixed in. Only time I've seen the crowd get a bit rough is some thursdays. And even then the trashy crowd stays inside for the DJ and you can still sit on the patio and enjoy a chill drinking spot
