Refrigerator Recommendations

Whirlpool or Kitchen Aid.

From a service standpoint, stay away from Samsung, LG or Frigidaire.

just had a 13 month old fridge blow out (1 month out of warranty). The guy who came to fix it told me the motherboard just blew out and he could fix it for the cost of the part but it would likely do the same thing in less than a year.

He recommended buying a refurbished one from 2003-2006 before they had all the fancy add ons that cause problems

^^^truth, the days are long gone of anything lasting 20-30 years.

Stanton's will deal. Olinde's is no longer going to sell appliances, they were clearing out inventory last month, check them out. Stay away from GE profile, Have had good luck with Whirlpool Gold.

I cannot think if the name of these types of stores, but you can find good pricing on fridges that have small cosmetic damages to the units. There is one of these stores on Jefferson HWY in NOLA but the name escapes me. Could be worth looking into these types of deals.

Will with the solid post...Samsung very expensive to service, and parts are hard to come by. Just had to replace a 3 yo Samsung because of this.

Sears will provide a warranty

I've heard a handful of horror stories about Sears warranties/service contracts. For instance, my mother's washing machine stopped working mid-cycle. She was given an estimated date of service for 8 weeks later. She has 6 people living under her roof, so not having a washing machine for 2 months was pretty time consuming. She had her dryer go out a few weeks after the washing machine was fixed. She was given a date about 6 weeks after she let them know for when they would come to fix it. Fortunately, there was a clause in the agreement for replacing a machine that had the same problem 2 or 3 times within 12 months, so they replaced her machine outright. But getting people to work on the Sears service contract in a timely manner has been horrible in her experience, and she won't recommend or sign one again.
