Refinish/Resurface Kitchen Cabinets (New Orleans)

First off, has anyone experienced going through one of the two processes? My current kitchen cabinets are arranged fine and in great condition. We would just like to paint them white. It seems one of these options would be my best bet rather than new cabinets.
Refinishing: I guess I could just hire a professional painter or someone that specializes in painting cabinets. I found this company, The Cabinet Makeover, in Marrero, but no reviews anywhere. LINK
Resurfacing: Still cheaper than new cabinets, but seems like it could get fairly expensive.
If anyone has any recommendations or testimonials, please share them.

In process of using the DIY kits right now. They are $89 a kit and I needed three.
Looks really good so far, haven't installed it yet.
Was cheaper than new cabinets for sure. Very Very time consuming though.

Ask for references on the last 5 jobs they did.

Did this over a weekend. My cabinets get lots of compliments. They aren't perfect since you aren't spraying them, but for less than $200, they came out great. Plus if you don't like it, you can just get them refinished for real and not be out too much extra.

Good idea.

Spraying furniture isn't hard. Just gotta make sure dust and shite doesn't make it into the wet paint. Well, you need to start off with the correct paint first

Just to clarify, you guys are refinishing or resurfacing?

I'm not really a DIY guy. I'll frick it up somehow. I liked how the Cabinet Makeover company taped off the ENTIRE area, and then they sprayed the doors in their controlled environment.

I'm using a three step process of a stripper, then light sanding, then spraying a base and spraying a top coat. I am using a standard wagner sprayer with a little latex thinner in the paint. Doing the sides with foam rollers and brush.
I didn't use the aging glaze but it comes with that as well.

Spray the sides you can see. Much more uniform

Rollers worked well for me. Just had to be mindful of getting the second coat uniform. But I didn't use a sprayer at all for my cabinets. Probably could have saved some time.

That was my one concern with that company. They didn't sand. I think it said they started with a bonding primer.

Getting it uniform is tough. On smooth surfaces, there's always some imperfection I can see when I roll. Could be the size of an ant, but it'll annoy the hell out of me

chalk paint at lowes
Works fricking awesome. Did some end tables. Dining table. My kitchen cabinets next. Easy as shite. Just get you a box of rags to wipe the seal and antiquing on it. Very very easy. Followed the steps. They give you a brochure with it.

Thanks for the replies so far. Besides the DIY crowd, has anyone used any services they recommend? I'll start by getting five references on previous work from the refinish company I listed.
