Haven’t even gotten on line to see what the fine is - but are these things better to just pay off or should I do the 892 (or whatever they’re calling “diversion” these days)?

No kidding - first time in 21 years I got pulled over.

Edit: Yep - this one came from one of BR’s finest - not the rent-a-rev redlight camera.

Throw it in the trash

ETA: I see you said "pulled over", I was thinking it was a camera ticket. Yeah do the diversion.

I saw the flash at college but I hadn't run the light. I'm gonna be pissed off if I get a ticket and have no way of fighting it or at least discussing it.

If TD had a list of FAQs, this would definitely be on there. For the umpteenth time, you don't have to pay it. Nothing will happen to you.

When Texas had them they would report it on your credit if you didn't pay. Does LA not do that?

Yeah - realized after I clicked that I should have worded the title a bit more clearly.

You could probably talk to the DA and get changed to a non-moving violation so it won’t go on your insurance if you are so inclined. However, in my experience that doesn’t make any difference. I would pay it and go on with my life..

This is my recommendation. In my experience it makes difference in terms of insurance rates.

Stunned. I would happily pay it and give the cop a tip for actually working.

I’m not sure how it works there. I have received four camera tickets over the last five years. I haven’t paid one. One was sent to collections and a nicely worded letter got it fixed. I’ve been pulled over a few times during those same years and not once has a cop mentioned the camera tickets. None of them have shown up on insurance or my driving record.

Again check your local laws, and if the same as mine throw it away.

Or to have some fun, take a picture of the money in your hand and send them that.

Chat GPT’s legal chat can probably answer your question for you with some accuracy

They did that to me and I just disputed and it was removed
