So the camera caught you and took your money.
Surprise, surprise.
In the burbs of Chicago, 15% of the take went to the guy who was the subagent who sold the system to the locals, and the mayor got $3,500 cash every month. Unknown to them, there was also a percentage kickback to the seller of the system.

It made me wonder if that was just the Chicago suburbs, or if it might apply elsewhere?

Even with technology corruption can still happen.

I think it’s published that those red light camera companies make a decent percentage for every ticket paid.

I am so shocked that there would be corruption like that in Chicago

Who would’ve imagined that those fine people would ever indulge in the coffers.

I lived in the northernmost suburbs of Chicago and got 3 red light tickets in my work truck in one month. My boss was pissed until he saw the videos. I was fully stopped all 3 times, just the tip of my truck was over the white line. Apparently we weren't the only ones with issues as they took the cameras down after only being in service for a year.

I always figured they put the cameras in areas where the drivers would be more likely to pay, i.e. the non-poor areas. But I don’t know if that’s fact or just my assumption
