To add more info:
It's for an interview. Conservative setting. White shirt. I'm worried that the shoes I bought are too light. They're in that bourbon/walnut range. Thinking about switching them out with a darker brown or black. Like on here, it's like no two people agree on either color (or shade of color, for that matter) from the internet research I've done.
What kind of conservative setting? What kind of position?
I've seen a lot of high-powered people wear lighter browns with navy suits at the office. These were mostly in conservative work environments - white shoe attorney offices, investment banks, consultants, etc.
If you're interviewing for a pretty junior position and/or are new to your industry, just wear a darker brown. An oxblood or chestnut would be fine.
While I love the look and wear it a lot, I wouldn't necessarily wear it to a regular job interview. It's like wearing a $10,000 watch to a junior analyst position interview at Goldman Sachs. You'll look like an idiot and will be laughed at out of the room.
Also, black shoes with a navy suit is gauche as hell. Don't wear that unless you want to look like an old man.

Yea, oxblood or chestnut is the lightest I would go in this particular situation. Walnut and tan are probably pushing it.
Something like here would be great. There are quite a few American brands in a lower price range that would be great as well.

1. Wear these.
2. Make vague reference to Uncle Vinnie, "friends of ours," offers that can't be refused, etc.
3. ???
4. Profit.

The interview can never be lost by a clean pair of black dress shoes. You never know with other colors in that situation. That said, walnut colored dress shoes pair very well with blue, from baby blue to deep navy.

Cordovan goes with everything.

I wear this combo a couple times a week. I get at least one positive comment each time I wear them.

Light brown wing tips with a light brown belt. Throw some gold or tan into the tie. It'll pop.

Cordovan belt and shoes.

While light brown does look nice with most navy suits, I would shy away from it in an interview. Wear a dark brown, cordovan, or black. If you must do something exotic cordovan and black saddle oxfords would be nice.
