Looking for something to read, recommend me some history books (on any era/culture/topic). Ancient China has been my go to for a while, but I'm open to anything.

Company Aytch. It is a great memoir written by a Confederate soldier in the Civil War.

Read the Guadalcanal Diary if you want to understand what human sacrifice is for us to live our lives 70 years later.

Dan Carlin really does just kill it. The countdown to Armageddon series was without a doubt one of the best things I've ever listened to. Ghosts of the Ostfront is a close second

My next read is That Dark and Bloody River.
It's about the settlement of the Ohio river area. I heard it was very good.

We're on the same page. I read McCullough"s latest bookThe Wright Brothers last summer. Just excellent, all the back story you never heard before, makes you proud to be American. Nathaniel Philbreck's Bunker Hill and Mayflower were superb as well.

Shelby Foote was wonderful. Nitpickers will tell you about the lack of footnotes but his narrative is accurate almost to a fault.

Good read about Lincoln's cabinet and the rivalries that helped shape the war.
