So I have an older "secondary" vehicle that I'll be getting some work done on when I go home.

I'd eventually try to get it refurbished to as new of a condition as possible

That being said I'm really not keen on dropping a fortune on the paint job. Needs some minor body work and probably needs to be repainted completely. Would a wrap be a more economical solution in this case? Car will stay garaged at my house most of the time so not a lot of sun exposure.

You could probably get a pretty affordable spray job in south tx.

If you do the sanding or find someone to sand for you you'll save most of the painting labor cost.

Last I checked, a wrap was around $1500 for a car. Expect it to last 3-5 years. Painting is all in how much you want to pay. Fact O Bake garbage ($300) to real quality (6K <).

I'd probably do wrap. I've heard bad things about repainting.

Would something in the middle last a good wile for a car that wouldn't have a lot of weather exposure? If it's about 2500 I think I could stomach that.

Depends on the paint, you can usually find a good painter that'll charge $3-400 for a one step paint job. Base coat and clear will cost more.

After my parents died, I inherited my Father's Toyota which was old and sort of dependable. But every time I saw the car, I saw my parents in it. It wasn't working as my second car because of the angst.

So I went to a local car shop in Houston and explained my problem and asked if they had a really slow time of the year, and if they ever had paint left over from other jobs. The answer was yes to both.

So just after Christmas, the Toyota Station Wagon went from tan to pickup truck blue. And with that change many of the memories. This was a couple of decades ago, but it cost about three hundred, and kept one of his workers employed through Christmas.

Not a great paint job, but good enough. (Great expensive paint job would probably have been wrecked the next week.)

If you don't do a color change it will be cheaper. Color change requires a lot more work doing door jambs, under the hood, trunk etc.

And with anything work related, time is money. Like already mentioned, a quick same color paint job with clear coat can be had reasonably and should last quite a while if the vehicle is garaged.

I was planning on keeping the same color anyway so that sounds reasonable enough
