then she shouldn't have a problem with it right?

It's a radar detector. Unless he buys a V1, he's wasting his money anyways, just leave him be

Speeding in a car she's financially responsible for? I would have a huge problem with it.

That's even worse because he can drive like an idiot and still get tickets.

Teach him how to drive and have enough sense to merge onto the interstate at the proper speed. (I am sure he doesn't )

If he wants a radar detector, he can clearly pay for his own expenses.

Don't enable weak-willed behavior.

He is going to speed with or without a radar detector. This will just make him a more conscious speeder.

I bought one and hate not having it with me.

you would have a problem with him buying a radar detector if it meant saving him from getting a ticket therefor keeping his insurance premium down?

he';s going to drive like an idiot anyways, he's 18. Having a radar detector just may save him from going to jail.

If he's dumb enough to do something that'll land him in jail, maybe the experience of jail will better serve him than teaching him how he can avoid the consequences of his actions.

Why not just say "you shouldn't be speeding" when he brings it up

Nothing else you can really do. He's gonna do what he wants and hide it from you if you tell him not to get one

Sounds like you want your kid to be a felon.

And that's exactly what I did & I'm sure he would hide it from me. I did with my parents.

Just a good to hear other people's opinion on the subject.
