Send the 18 year old to a series of advanced driving courses instead. The radar detector might prevent tickets but better driver training is a better investment IMO.

I agree. My driving test consisted of driving around the block at about 15 mph.

That's a great idea but he wouldn't go. He's 18 & working therefore I can only strongly suggest things. And like every other man in my life he's thinks I'm nuts.

He's 18. You either raised him to be smart enough with his decisions or you didn't. Just hope the trouble he gets in teaches him a lesson without leaving too bad a mark

This is true. He's a good kid but like most 18 y/o he thinks he's invincible.

Didn't we all? 10 feet tall and bulletproof.

The lucky ones walk away with scars and memories. Just hope he's lucky and pray he always makes it home.

You should go all "Misery" on him and hobble him to show him he's vincible. Not having functional feet also clears up that whole speeding problem nicely.

This is not an issue that mom is going to resolve. He needs an arse kicking by dad if he's driving like an idiot, figuratively speaking.

Why no answer for me? Is dad not around? You seriously won't get through to him at 18. It's an alpha male thing at that age.

Yay.

It will pay for itself and your kid is going to drive like an a-hole regardless.
