Questions about Kindle

I'm debating on purchasing a Kindle. I want something that I can listen to and read all in the same. Can the Kindle do this? I drive a lot for work and want to be able to listen to the book. When I stop, I want to be able to read the text version and it keep my place. If the Kindle can't do this, is there any other thing that can?

You can do this...but it requires you to have audible as well to purchase the audible version of the kindle book. You can have the kindle version and audible version on the kindle app.
I do this for some of my books. I can read on the kindle app and when I want to listen I tap on the audible version and listen....it automatically syncs to where you are at in the book when you switch between reading and listening.
Costs more though. However...I've noticed that when I buy the kindle book I'm given the option to buy the audio version for maybe $5.00 more. If not...I just use one of my audible credits. My audible plan is $14.95 a month and I get one credit a month to use for any book I wish. You don't have to use the credits each month...you can have up to 6 credits banked for future use.

So Audible and Kindle, separate apps, know that I am reading the same book and will synch up? On another note, what is a quick description on how audible works? I always assumed it was like Netflix for books but I guess not. I have been using mostly overdrive, which is awesome, but also limited. It also doesn't allow me to read and listen to the same book.

Your books are stored in your library in the cloud, where they are yours to keep and enjoy forever. You can pay by debit or credit card for both memberships and one-off purchases. Once you download an audiobook, you can listen to it on your smartphone, tablet, mp3 player, or laptop.

Yes. Each time you open one it will say "your last read/listened location is X, would you like to go to X?". But you can utilize just the Kindle app to both listen and read though. Your books will be stored in Audible, but your kindle app downloads them and allows you to begin the audio at any point. So it's easy to read, listen, read, listen...

Just like the Kindle app, but with audiobooks

I use Overdrive as well. I link it to our public library to borrow books. It's free and easy.
I'm not much of an audiobook guy except during deer season when I'm driving to the lease. I have downloaded the ebook and audiobook version before and just had to find where I left off in each. It would be nice if the app would sync them and save your place.

Sounds like it is, you just have to pay extra.
