perfect post to demonstrate what's wrong with children's sports today, imo, the parents, for the most part should not be part of the equation, if you're the coach, coach, implement your program, if not, let someone else do it
No its not, not at 6-7. Kids that age are too young to really understand and get authority only spending 2-3 hours a week with them. Plus, half the kids only kinda want to be there. We aren't talking about 12-14 year olds that are motivated.
Getting the parents involved no matter the political situation is a good solution with younger kids.

From phone but 6-7 is really too young for that, you’re really just their babysitter at that point. The part about only sort of want to be there is also a big part of the problem.

No. These are 6-7 year olds. Next step is setting with his mother. I would like to help him grow a bit tho.
First time coaching, ace? From my experience, it's kids like that - that need a different style of coaching. Your job isn't to scream at him..you're there to help him get better and sometimes that means running all practice to send the message.

Run him until he pukes and make it known in front of everyone that this is about his attitude. Let him know he'll be on the pine next time and stick to it.
