is pot the go to mind/mood altering substance among the younger crowd these days? I don't have anything against it, it's just that it seems all the kids I know or get to know fire it up whereas when I was a kid(and there was plenty of smoking back then,) sneaking out to drink beer was a lot more prevalent

I can see why you would think that, but alcohol is still #1. Girls don't smoke like guys do and that might be the difference.

More people I knew in the 70"s-80's smoked than drank. If you got too drunk your parents would notice. With weed you just sat on the couch and watched star trek with the fam and no one noticed.

I'd say it's the go to cause its easily accessible, fairly cheap and unless you're trying to blaze that shite up in public the risk is extremely low.

Once you get in the right..or wrong..circles, you have little trouble finding anything.
Usually in college if you went to someone's house they would fire it up, kinda like fixing you a glass of coffee or tea.

I grew up around the same time you did 777, pot and pills were handed out like candy...
Most of us drank booze because it was so easy to buy, liquor stores had no problem selling to underage, for a small fee.
