Bourbon and Dumaine. You can take your pick.

For the guy complaining about the samsung getting off-balance, this is the correct answer.
Easy fix.

Are GE electric ranges a problem too? I took your advice buying a Speed Queen washer and have been happy. We are getting ready to build and the standard is GE appliances such as stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator. It is really up to us as long as we stay in the price range of GE.

My only rec is to get something without a lot of electronics and get a dual fuel range.... electric oven and gas stove. Best of both worlds.

Your wife isn't gonna like this, but generally the cheaper and less fancy the appliance, the longer it's gonna last
Yes, now how do I convince my wife to purchase something that "looks like it came out of a Laundromat" vs. something that's "super cute and fancy"

When it comes to top load or a front load washer, is one better than the other?

Just buy it and have it delivered. Cut her out of the loop. That generally works out well for me.
Well, ok, that really never works out. At all.

top and its not even close.
if you have a front loader sooner or later you will run a load of clothes through it that come out smelling like mildew.
you can be diligent all you want.
but one day..you will forget to 'prop' the door open.
its simply physics, i dont care how fancy your front loader is...the circle is vertical and therefore gravity will ensure all water trickles down the gasket to pool at the bottom.
top loader..good old-fashioned tub with holes..every drop drains out after you're done.
no mildew ever..unless you are a moron and leave wet clothes in the washer for a day or 2.

Speed Queen Washers
I just noticed they changed to an electronic control panel..... don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing. Probably won't last as long as the mechanical dial models but I'd buy another tomorrow if mine tanked.
Where to buy in Baton Rouge

Just replaced our stove today. After 17+ years, the oven started dying. Could of fixed it cheap, but, it was time just to replace it.
Beside, 40% off of it at Home Depot.
