If you need to search for a body in an alligator infested swamp, do you just jump in, assuming that the boats scared them away, or is there some procedure you use to evacuate the gators?

Bring in a hippo. They clear crocs, they can clear gators.

Based on the tense of the question, it would technically be a Search and Recover.

With that said, it would require diver(s) to search and others to guard against the gators.

Worst job ever. Anything in the water is just creepy. The water makes a body look like it is moving. Did 4 autopsies when I was 16 bc I wanted to be a pathologist, but a diver, NOPE.

The tender in the boat will keep an watch out for them. They usually have a radio that they can communicate with the diver. The diver just has to keep his head on a swivel but if you're in a swamp the visibility is usually pretty bad.

Yeah, I did. Charity hospital in BR, EKL. I was a gymnast with a girl whose mom worked in the pharmacy and knew the forensic pathologist. They called over the course of 2 days and I was able to assist. Stitching (like their bodies), notes for the Dr., etc. It was very, very cool.

ETA: We couldn't tell my father, because the idea that his little girl had seen a real (not) live penis at 16 would have killed him. I was a goody two shoes until LSU.

Put up signs for gators to leave, wait 24 hours for signs to take effect. Start the dive.
