I'm sure they would for that amount. It's worth more than that.

Does anyone know the backstory on that second pic?

Professionally satisfying for a lawyer means cha ching. The lawyer that represents the family of the boy will never have to work another day in his life after this settles.
I think you have a skewed idea of the amount of money people receive for wrongful death settlements.

I think you'd be surprised. If media exposure were not a factor and Disney could litigate this thing as they wanted, I don't know if you'd get to two million.
There is some comparative fault on the parents, and Disney apparently had signs warning folks not to swim.
A lot of the big dollar settlements you see on TV come from a young, high-wage earner losing their earning capacity for the rest of their life, or for a person with a catastrophic injury who needs a life care plan. If you looked at the quantum books, I think you'd be surprised at how (relatively) little a straight wrongful death (even of a child) is worth.
Now they may be able to cash in on a survival action (if something like that exists in Florida).

How do you feel when you "win" a case in court or get/avoid a big settlement when you are 100% sure your client is at fault?

Disney cant control the bad press
They can control press by opening up the checkbook before a lawsuit gets filed, and they almost certainly will.

My gut would double the proposed settlement amount. Disney is the epitome of deep pocket entity, and this is the most horrific of incidents. I don't discount your analysis regarding the value of the minors' lives, but I'd peg this one differently.
That said, I don't know how Disney litigates. Wal-Mart, for example, is notorious for being fricking horrendous to litigate against. But this is such a one off case that I'm not sure if that type of thing matters.

I believe it would be quite easy to represent either side of this case in a lawsuit.
As a lawyer and a human being, I feel the absolute opposite of this statement is true.
As a lawyer who has lost a young child to an accident caused by tort, i can tell you that there is no good result here and that the only sense of satisfaction either set of lawyers will likely feel at the conclusion of this case is the satisfaction that they guided their clients through it as successfully and civilly as they were able.
