I am at my parent's house with my SO. We had dinner last night and had a great time. I was raised very old school, very strict and assumed my SO would not be allowed to sleep in the same bed with me under their roof, since we aren't married (I'm 37). Mom and dad were like "Goodnight kids! Do you need more pillows or blankets?" While I think it would be stupid to make us stay in separate rooms, since we live together and they have stayed with us, I am still a little shocked. So, do any of you make your unmarried kids sleep apart from their SO's?

My wife’s parents are like that. Her brother had lived with a girl for five years and when they came to visit for Christmas together one year, they had to stay in separate rooms. When he protested, they told him they could get a hotel room if they needed a bed to share.

Really it was their mom. I don’t think my FIL cared. My MIL though is the type to go to mass every day, has a cross and a picture of Jesus in literally every room of the house, and gets bothered by the slightest use of foul language.

You’re shocked? You’re 37 and you already live with her. I’m pretty sure they know you’re screwing their daughter

It could be the "Do what you want on your own, but you aren't doing that in my house." mentality.

Didn't worry about it when they were in HS. We knew they were sleeping with their SO already. Just told them to wrap up.

I’m 37 too, and the daughter of a pastor. I get it.
I guess things are mellowing. I still don’t think I’d have sex in someone’s parents house, it just seems disrespectful to me, but that’s probably just because of how I was raised.

I am THEIR daughter. Damn Dawg, your reading/comprehension skills suck this morning. Just how hungover are you?!

Rouge, shut up

ETA - Georgia, definitely no shenanigans went on, like you said sleeping in the same bed was enough, not gonna try and push the envelope

I had this once at my step-mom’s parents house. Weird people. She thought it was a huge deal letting us sleep in same room when we got married but we were like,”We do this every night we aren’t here.”

Before I was married, we definitely had to sleep in separate rooms at his parents’, even though we lived together. I was 22-23, so it was reasonable.

Now that I’m 37 and divorced, no parents care anymore. We are spoiled goods.

Well you are not to great at reading comprehension yourself. You are the daughter so I said “screwing their son” unless you are a lesbian.

Dude. She’s at HER parents’. Are you implying she’s banging her brother?
