Question for folks who know more about casinos than I...

Why do they not go to virtual chips with some device issued to each gambler? It is the tech not being there or do they worry folks like the "feel" and presence of the chips? Or is the worry about some sort of hack?

Bc it ruins the experience.

A lot of casinos in other countries have electronic tables for blackjack as example, it sucks

Someone will figure out a way to hack it. People already try elaborate ways to cheat with card counting. Didn't you see "21"? Probably cheaper for the casinos to pay cashiers to exchange cash for chips than it is to pay for an IT security team.

Most gamblers would probably rather the chips anyway. And I'm sure the dealers would rather chips too because its easy for the players to tip the dealer that way.
