Adopt? Are you one of those people who LOVE using terms that serve to humanize animals?

Talk to someone who has actually adopted children. It’s a VERY different commitment than buying a fricking dog.

You adopt children. You buy or take-in dogs.

No one cares about your shitty little adopted kids. They're not really your kids, weirdo.

You shouldn't have gone that route.

I help rescues and my dogs are shelter dogs. See no issues supporting good breeders who work and title their breeds and breed for their dogs for breed intentions (knowing some in a litter will be pet quality, but still sound otherwise), and for temperament, health and longevity. I’ve had those, too. We need good dogs who can do what their breed intends. Those are our working and service dogs. BYBs and litters bc people won’t fix their pets? Or because they want their kids to see a litter? They suck and are the reason for so many dying in shelters and bad breed examples. I despise those types.

Our dog is a rescue. We didn't get him out of some noble reason to save a dog's life. We wanted a scruffy looking dog and the first dog we wanted fell through.

We went to a shelter by LSU at first. Majority pits. Loud as shite with the dogs barking. Not a good place to bring your kids to pick out the dog they want with piss all over the floors. Left and combed the internet.

Found a dog at a rescue in New Orleans that we liked. Put in the application and paid the application fee. In the questionaire, they asked where would the dog be spending it's time. We told them outside, because when we were at work, our old dog was left outside. Keep in mind i have a nice covered outdoor kitchen. The rescue people rejected us, saying "dogs should not be outside. It's not safe." Silly me for thinking a dog would rather roam free in the fenced in backyard than being locked up in a kennel. They even made comments about the wood fence, asking if it was secure. If only this much due diligence was done before some people had children, we'd be in a much better state. Anyway, we got denied the adoption.

A couple months later we got an ad from another rescue and found a scruffy looking guy that we wanted. Filled out the application again. Told them we would be keeping the dog in a crate while we are at work (which we do). Got to the adoption show about an hour early ended up being 5th in line, and we got our little man Oscar.

Rescue agencies are strange, but Oscar is a good dog and we couldn't be happier.

They wouldn't give me gruff because they figure I'm the kinda guy that would make them pay for it.

Me and my fam volunteer for a shelter. We know all about dogs of all types. But have resisted the urge to take any home.

Like everything in my life, the dogs I have/had were the result of careful research. They've never had blatant health issues that shortened their lives. And they have been all amazing.
